~ Workshop Outline ~
Throughout human history, in cultures around the globe, amulets & talismans have reminded us of life and powers that exist beyond surface appearances. They remind us of what we are capable of, at times when we need such crucial wisdom. Crafted from natural materials, each with its own healing properties and role in the ecology of our planet, they also remind us that we are part of Nature - that we can call on her profound qualities of courage, generosity, protectiveness, etc. whenever we need to, and that, in return, we owe Nature our own courage and fierce protection.
using naturally dyed fibres provided by the studio (fabric, paper, threads, yarn), along with local, organic healing herbs and flowers dried in advance for your use, and any personal items you bring with you, learn to create a spectacular strand of amulets/talismans to protect/inspire you or the person for whom you craft it
learn beautiful methods for joining your amulets, including simple braid, knit, and crochet techniques
learn about the ecological importance, health and healing properties, and historical symbolism of the dried herbs and flowers incorporated into your unique creation
using a botanically dyed mini-journal provided by the studio, record the materials you use and their significance for you
take home skills to further explore amulet making on your own, along with a beautiful, unique strand of amulets whose materials, and their meanings, will guide and protect you
